Raw Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Oats

Thanks to Liz, over at I Heart Vegetables for this inspiration.  Liz  uses a raw oat hot cereal with a great nutritional content.  I had Bob’s organic oats on hand and added in some extra nutritional boosters.  This would be a great breakfast for those mornings when you need to get out the door quickly.  Plus, it’s like eating a super healthy dessert for breakfast!

Raw Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Oats:

  • 3 cups organic old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 4 1/2 cups water, you want just enough water to incorporate into the oats plus a little extra which will soak up after a few minutes
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons organic cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons organic ground flax seeds
  • 1 heaping tablespoon organic ground chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar (because my daughter said she had a good idea of adding it to this new dish)  🙂
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar
  • 8 ounces strawberries, cut into bite-size pieces

Combine everything, except the strawberries, with a wooden spoon.  Serve with berries tossed on top.
