Green Smoothies, Antioxidant Smoothies and Beet Smoothies – Day 2

Posted on March 4, 2011

Yesterday, I mentioned I sometimes toss supplements into our smoothies.  If you have not tried Amazing Grass, please take a second to click on the link to read about it.  We use it and Juice Plus to help increase our fruit and vegetable daily intake.

Another thing I add to many of our smoothies, including my antioxidant smoothie, is ground cinnamon.  (It is especially tasty in cocoa and strawberry smoothies).   Cinnamon is a great antioxidant source, is an anti-microbial, helps reduce blood sugar levels and decreases inflammation.

Antioxidant Smoothie:

  • 1 large handful fresh baby spinach leaves
  • 1 1/2 cup red grapes, preferably organic
  • 1 1/2 cup blueberries, preferably organic
  • 1/4 – 1/2  teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 scoop Amazing Grass
  • 3 dates
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground flax-seed
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar
