Joe’s Oat Patties “Meat”loaf

When my Mom was visiting I wanted to make a “down-home” Southern dish for her.  So, after the lady at Artichoke Red Vegan Market told me how she had heard you can use Joe’s Oat Patties mix to make a meatloaf, I decided to try it.

What an easy, delicious “meat” and potatoes dish this turned out to be.  So, so easy!

Joe’s Oat Patties “Meat”loaf


  • 1 Package Joe’s Oat Patties Veggie Burger Mix (I used the Italian Sausage style)
  • 1-2 Carrots, sliced
  • Approximately 1 Cup Tomato Sauce (can sub ketchup or tomato paste that has been thinned with water)

Prepare mix according to package directions.  (You just add water)!

Steam carrots.  (I popped mine in the microwave for a couple of minutes).

Once mixture has set, stir in carrots.  Spread into baking dish.  (You can use a loaf pan.  I chose to use a rectangular glass dish this time).  Spread tomato sauce on top.

Bake in 350° oven for 20-30 minutes, depending on type of dish you are using.  Test to see if your meatloaf is done by poking with a fork to see if it comes out clean.
