Frugal Friday: Shop Sam’s Club FREE This Weekend Only

Posted on August 6, 2010

I received a flyer in my Wednesday Orlando Sentinel advertising shopping is open to non-members this weekend (August 6-8) with no up-charge.  I stopped by tonight to check out the produce, frozen foods and to pickup micro fiber towels to use for cloth diapering and a 60 pack of terry towels for the kitchen (I do have 4 kids, and we don’t use paper towels!).

Foodwise, I thought the prices were pretty good.  Although, I still believe I can do better at Publix combining coupons with sales.

Here is what I got:

  • 3 pounds kiwi (13 kiwi) for $4.02
  • 2 pounds strawberries for $3.32
  • 1 pound organic baby spinach leaves for $3.97

The cashier tried several tactics to get me to sign up. She saved “the best” for last when she propositioned me with the free rotisserie meat and meat-filled pizza if I signed up today.  I really did not mean to be funny, but I thought she would never quit laughing when I told her, “No thanks, I’m vegan.”
